Our interest in seiches began when professor Chin Wu mentioning the renovation done on Port Washington harbor to reduce seiche movement.  This began our investigation into the effects of harbor geometry on seiches.  A seiche is a standing wave in a (semi)enclosed body of water.  These standing waves can cause disturbances in navigation and boat mooring.
